Honduras Communities Strengthened by Regal Springs-Government Alliance for Sustainable Growth
Honduras communities will continue to thrive on the back of long established and well-founded sustainable initiatives. Important and valuable Strategic alliance signed by Regal Springs Honduras with the Government of Honduras now paving the way for an even brighter, more sustainable future.
San Francisco de Yojoa – January 22, 2025 – Regal Springs Honduras, known as “Aquafinca St. Peter Fish”, a leading company in the production and marketing of high-quality premium tilapia, have signed with the Government of the Republic of Honduras, through the national electricity company (Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica (ENEE)), an all-important strategic alliance strengthening its valuable operations in the magnificent lake El Cajón hydroelectric dam. Lake El Cajon derives its large volume from two large tributaries, the Humuya River and the Sulaco River; it is the 5th largest dam in all the Americas.
Today marks an important milestone for the government and Regal Springs cementing a long-term commitment for continued sustainable expansion. This partnership is a testimony of Regal Springs long-standing dedication to promote the quality of life amongst the communities – to enrich life through job creation, infrastructure development and the preservation of the environment where it operates. Regal Springs mission wherever, whenever is to demonstrate respect for people, product and planet at every stage of its journey in the supply of premium tilapia.
Regal Springs Honduras has been operating in the country for over 30 years, collaborating with local communities and other stakeholders to create a positive and lasting impact. Currently, with more than 1,000 direct jobs and more than 5,000 indirect jobs, Regal Springs social investment programs benefit more than 70,000 people annually, reaching 39 communities in 8 municipalities; of particular importance the company’s effort benefit the livelihoods, health and education of thousands of Hondurans in remote rural parts of the country with the newly forged formal alliance helping to stimulate further development of the local infrastructure in the line with the governments vision.

The tilapia raised by Regal Springs Honduras thrive in deep water, oxygen-rich environments, where the ideal conditions favor healthy growth of the species and a superior product quality. Building on its 35-year legacy the alliance illustrates Regal Springs’s mission to protect the natural environment and promote responsible aquaculture practices wherever it operates. As part of its environmental commitment, the company will continue to protect more than 4,000 hectares of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
