Regal Springs Showcases Sustainability and Traceability Leadership at Three Major Global Sustainability Events

For Regal Springs, traceability isn’t just a value — it’s a foundation for trust.

As the world’s leading producer of premium responsibly farmed tilapia, the company has long championed transparency across the supply chain. After all, in today’s food landscape, what good is premium seafood if you can’t prove where it comes from?

Its partnership with the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) underscores this commitment, setting higher industry standards that ensure consumers and partners know exactly where and how their seafood is raised. By aligning with GDST, and our credible certifications ASC and BAP, Regal Springs continues to demonstrate that premium tilapia can be both responsibly farmed and fully verifiable, from farm to fork.

That leadership has been on display in recent weeks, as Regal Springs stepped onto the international stage at three major gatherings: the Seafood Nutrition Partnership’s State of the Science Symposium in Washington, D.C., the New York Climate Week with Food Tank, and the Responsible Seafood Summit 2025 in Cartagena, Colombia, organized by the Global Seafood Alliance.

At Food Tank’s Climate Week event in New York, Group Sustainability Manager Elena Piana joined a panel on transparency and traceability in seafood — values central to Regal Springs’ mission. “Consumers are demanding to know where their food comes from and how it’s produced. At Regal Springs, we’ve built our reputation on responsibly raised tilapia that meets those expectations,” she said. Guests also enjoyed Regal Springs tilapia tacos, praised by Chef Mario for their consistency and superior quality.

The energy in New York also brought together like-minded companies and partners to launch a new initiative addressing one of the biggest challenges in sustainable aquaculture: deforestation and conversion-freesoy. Since soy is a key ingredient in tilapia feed, ensuring it is sourced responsibly is critical to bringing a truly sustainable product to market. Regal Springs is proud to join forces with Wholechain and Better Food Future in advancing blockchain-based traceability systems that can track soy from origin to feed, creating supply chains that are both verifiable and deforestation-free. By supporting this new technology-led soy traceability solution, Regal Springs is helping to set a new global benchmark — proving that real sustainability means protecting forests, strengthening food security, and building trust from origin through to the consumer.

Furthermore, in Washington, D.C., Regal Springs joined leading scientists, policymakers, and industry experts at the State of the Science Symposium. The event spotlighted the role of seafood in public health and the urgent need to increase U.S. seafood consumption, particularly among children and pregnant women. Attendees sampled Regal Springs’ responsibly farmed Blackened Tilapia Sliders while engaging with Piana and other experts on bridging the gap between science, education, and consumer behavior.

Most recently, in Cartagena, Colombia, Regal Springs participated in the GSA Responsible Seafood Summit 2025. Piana represented Regal Springs on stage, highlighting innovations in premium value-added tilapia products and the growth potential for tilapia in European markets. She also emphasized seafood’s essential role in nutrition, particularly for women and children.

The summit featured powerful messages from industry leaders, including Dr. Shakuntala Thilsted, who called attention to the lived experiences of aquaculture communities and the urgent need to ensure access to responsibly farmed seafood for the 3.3 billion people who rely on aquatic foods for protein. For Regal Springs, this message resonates deeply with its mission to nourish people responsibly while protecting the environment and supporting the communities where it operates. At the summit, Piana also connected with Global Seafood Alliance colleagues and international partners, reinforcing Regal Springs’ belief that lasting progress in sustainability comes through collaboration, innovation, and shared responsibility across the seafood sector.

A key highlight was Regal Springs’ growing partnership with Wholechain. As Mark Kaplan, CEO of Wholechain, noted:

“Traceability is the backbone of trust in seafood. Regal Springs’ leadership in adopting and advancing GDST standards shows how companies can strengthen both supply chain integrity and consumer confidence.”

Together with partners worldwide, Regal Springs continues to drive progress in sustainability, nutrition, and transparency — reaffirming its role as the global leader in premium tilapia and a committed force in building a healthier, more sustainable seafood sector.
